Leadership Message
My message comes to you to introduce Opel Ventures, which is among a number of the world’s exceptional firms that is part of the venture capital and private equity industry, as entrepreneurs rise every day with emerging products and consumer trends shaping the global markets constantly.
Today, the entrepreneurial ecosystem landscape is very different. It’s much more open, much more dynamic, it’s fragmented. We have thousands of entrepreneurs pretty much everywhere in the world. The idea of Opel Ventures is to embrace that change, to see all these entrepreneurs not as challengers but as a great opportunity to invest in and make a real impact.
Opel Ventures is learning and evolving from working with successful ventures, respectful investors, elite family offices, great partners and public entities. This is just the start. The ambition to impact Opel Ventures from the work with a concept called “transactional learning” with all the entrepreneurs and investors is going to take time, but I think we already have accomplished a first stage of awareness and openness, which I think is very fruitful.
Working with entrepreneurs requires innovation and persistence to solve problems, while working with investors demands clear goal definition and patience for long-term success. We always know that entrepreneurs must lead with vision, while investors contribute capital and a belief in the long-term vision. My point is that both parties must align their goals and work collaboratively to drive growth, leveraging each other’s unique skills and perspectives to achieve a shared vision for success.
Beyond the number of investments (our compass), what we really are eventually is bringing value both to the entrepreneurs, and to our investors, to benefit our communities. On the entrepreneurs’ side, our ambition is to be really valued as a strategic partner that does bring value beyond the capital we bring. On the investors’ side, Opel Ventures really hopes to become a source of innovation and a financial return, wanting to bring innovative companies, brands, categories, models on one hand but also improving the life of people and preserving the planet.
